In a landmark move to strengthen tourism and cultural ties, Uganda has launched its first-ever Tourism Road show in Mauritius—a vibrant island nation known for its luxury resorts and scenic beaches. The road show marks a new chapter in Uganda’s tourism promotion efforts, aimed at opening fresh travel opportunities between the two countries.
A Step Toward Stronger Bilateral Tourism
The event, organized by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), brought together key tourism stakeholders, including travel agencies, tour operators, airline representatives, and media personalities from both Uganda and Mauritius. The goal was simple yet ambitious: to showcase Uganda’s breathtaking destinations—from the misty mountains of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to the wildlife-rich savannahs of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The roadshow also provided a platform to highlight Uganda’s cultural heritage, culinary experiences, and unique adventures that set it apart as the “Pearl of Africa.”
Why Mauritius?
Mauritius is not only a hub for luxury tourism but also a gateway to travelers from Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean region. By connecting directly with Mauritian travel companies and holidaymakers, Uganda aims to attract a new wave of visitors interested in nature, adventure, and cultural exploration.
“Uganda offers experiences that perfectly complement what Mauritius is known for,” said one UTB representative. “After relaxing on the beaches of Mauritius, visitors can come to Uganda for mountain gorilla tracking, the source of the Nile, and unforgettable safaris.”
Opportunities for Travelers
This new partnership is expected to create two-way travel opportunities, allowing Mauritian tourists to explore Uganda while Ugandans also get easier access to Mauritius for holidays, business, and cultural exchange.
For travelers, this means more convenient packages and travel deals that combine both destinations—the beaches of Mauritius and the wild beauty of Uganda—into one incredible journey.
