Whether you’re an avid wildlife enthusiast or just looking to explore the rich natural beauty of Uganda, this safari promises an unforgettable adventure.
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide from Kamiigo Tours & Travel. After a brief orientation, you’ll be driven to your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala for a relaxing overnight stay. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore Entebbe, perhaps visiting the Uganda Wildlife Education Center or enjoying the peaceful shores of Lake Victoria.
After an early breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Kibale Forest National Park, home to one of the highest concentrations of primates in Africa. The drive takes you through lush green landscapes, dotted with small villages, farms, and rolling hills. Upon arrival at your lodge near Kibale, you’ll check in and enjoy lunch while overlooking the forest's rich biodiversity.
In the afternoon, take a guided walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, where you can spot various birds, monkeys, and learn about local conservation efforts. Dinner at the lodge will be followed by a good night's rest, preparing you for the adventure ahead.
Today is the highlight of your safari as you venture into the heart of Kibale Forest for an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking experience. Early in the morning, your expert guide will brief you on the trek and safety precautions. As you trek through the dense forest, enjoy the beautiful scenery and listen to the sounds of the forest, as you search for one of Kibale’s famous chimpanzee families.
Once you find the chimps, you will be able to observe them in their natural habitat—watching them feed, play, and interact. This rare and intimate encounter with our closest relatives in the animal kingdom is sure to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The trek typically lasts 2–4 hours, depending on the location of the chimps.
Afterward, return to your lodge to relax and reflect on the experience. In the evening, you’ll have the option of taking another nature walk or visiting a local village to learn about the culture and traditions of the Bakiga or Batooro people.
On your final day, journey to Kyambura Gorge, located within Queen Elizabeth National Park. Kyambura is another chimpanzee haven, where you will get the chance to trek for more chimpanzee encounters. The gorge’s lush vegetation and steep walls make it a dramatic and exciting location to observe chimps. The trek here is slightly different, as you explore the gorge’s unique landscapes, which are home to a variety of primates, including chimpanzees, monkeys, and baboons.
After your chimpanzee trek, you’ll enjoy a scenic drive back to Entebbe for your departure. Depending on your flight time, you may have the chance to relax in Entebbe, perhaps visiting the shores of Lake Victoria or exploring the town's markets before heading to the airport.
