Uganda is steadily positioning itself as one of Africa’s most attractive tourism destinations, and recent engagements with Canadian tour operators have further strengthened this vision. With its breathtaking landscapes, rich wildlife, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality, Uganda continues to leave a lasting impression on international travel partners.
During a recent tourism promotion initiative, Canadian tour operators expressed strong interest in Uganda’s unique travel experiences, particularly gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, wildlife safaris in Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls National Parks, adventure tourism along the Nile in Jinja, and cultural experiences across the country.
These operators praised Uganda for offering authentic, less crowded, and highly memorable travel experiences compared to many traditional tourist destinations. They also highlighted Uganda’s potential as a premium destination for eco-tourism, bird watching, adventure travel, and sustainable tourism.
The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), together with key stakeholders in the tourism sector, has now set an ambitious target of attracting 20,000 Canadian visitors annually by the year 2028. This goal reflects the growing confidence in Uganda’s tourism product and the increasing demand from North American travelers seeking new and meaningful destinations.
To achieve this target, Uganda is focusing on stronger destination marketing, strategic partnerships with international tour operators, improved tourism infrastructure, and enhanced digital visibility. The government is also investing in conservation, hospitality standards, and better travel accessibility to ensure visitors enjoy a seamless and unforgettable experience.
Canada represents a valuable tourism market, with travelers known for their interest in nature, wildlife, and experiential travel—all areas where Uganda excels. By building stronger relationships with Canadian travel agencies and tourism influencers, Uganda hopes to convert this interest into long-term visitor growth.
Tourism remains one of Uganda’s strongest economic drivers, creating employment opportunities, supporting local communities, and contributing significantly to national development. Increased Canadian arrivals will not only boost foreign exchange earnings but also strengthen Uganda’s global tourism reputation.
As Uganda continues to showcase its beauty to the world, the future looks promising. With the right partnerships and sustained promotion, the Pearl of Africa is well on its way to becoming a top choice for Canadian travelers by 2028.
Uganda is not just a destination—it is an experience waiting to be discovered.
